I was born in Edmonton, North London, in 1932 and was educated at Tottenham Grammar School. On leaving school I joined the Shell Petroleum Company and after National Service with the the RAF in Singapore and Malaya embarked on a sales and marketing career with Unilever. I eventually became Sales Director of the Prestige Group plc, the kitchenware manufacturers. After undertaking theological training on the St. Albans Ministerial Training Course, I was ordained Deacon in 1982 and Priest in 1983. I served my title in Radlett, where I was Priest-in-Charge of St. John's Church from 1985. In 1989 I became Vicar of Codicote, and was Rural Dean of Welwyn Hatfield from 1995-2002. Having retired from full-time ministry in 1999, I very much enjoy being a member of the Walkern and Benington Ministry Team, supporting the Rector, and still have an active and varied ministry in retirement, for which I am very thankful. I am Chairman of Governors of Sherrardswood School, Welwyn Garden City, and in the Diocese I am Clergy Retirement Officer for the Archdeaconry of Hertford. I have led Christian groups on pilgrimages and holidays for many years and am taking a group to Russia in September 2007. I have been a regular broadcaster on religious matters on BBC Three Counties radio. I enjoy my family and friends, travelling, reading and watching Middlesex cricket team. Margaret and I were married at All Saints' Church, Edmonton in 1956 and we have three children and two grandchildren. |
