For some time, it has become apparent that the red clay tiles on the north side of the chancel roof have borne the brunt of prevailing winds and rain. Close inspection has revealed that many are cracked and that a good number are crumbling away. The wooden battens underneath however appear to be sound.

In March 2023, working closely with our Inspecting Architect, the Parochial Church Council took the decision to pursue the urgent need to retile the roof. Approval for the project has been granted by the diocesan authorities and we are now awaiting on our appointed contractor to advise a date for the work to commence. The estimated cost for the project is £11,350 + VAT.

The project will seriously deplete the funds held by the PCC and limit any further works able to be undertaken for the foreseeable future.
